And how you can create one and start connecting today

Medium is built around writers, creators, and those that love to consume content. Basically, we’re one connected community.

It’s highly important that you don’t simply rely on your follower count to build up your community, especially if you want to potentially establish a passive income from writing.

The fact is, that while we have the ability to make some money on Medium, or even a monthly bonus through the platform, you’re the captain of your ship as far as building your writing career goes!

If you’re just starting, or you’re…

Every single one of us is a miracle. Truly. Think about the odds of us being here. That out of millions of cells, one egg and sperm joined to create our life. And not just that, everything had to align perfectly in order for those elements to fertilize and create a human.

It’s really truly astonishing.

Even with all of life’s ups and downs, tragedies and triumphs, it’s difficult for me to understand why we aren’t treating our life as the grand occasion that it is.

“One life. Just one. …

I’ve been writing consistently on Medium since February, and prior to that, I had spurts of productivity since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic in March 2020.

One of the many coveted positions many writers (mostly the newbies) hope to attain is top writer status in a specific category.

Well, my day came when I received an e-mail from Medium on May 19th saying I had achieved Top Writer status for Social Media. WOW! I had never hung my hat on that status, but I won’t lie. It felt good!

Flash forward to the present moment and I was on…

What’s in a number? Many Medium writers are waking up to find their follower counts have changed. Some have even changed drastically, here’s why:

What Medium Did to the Follower Count

About a week or so ago I had gotten an email from Medium asking me to take a short survey. It was regarding followers on the platform. It asked a variety of questions, mainly focusing on what my expectations are for followers and what I hope it could be.

Flash forward to the present and I just read a piece written by Medium about the changes to the follower counts and experience. Basically, Medium is looking…

We’re a community and we’re always a comment away

If there’s one thing that’s become so clear to me during my writing journey on Medium, it’s that we’re a community. And like any community, we’re at our best when we’re building one another up!

There are many writers just getting their start on this platform. There are writers who are just getting the hang of it, and then there are very well seasoned writers, full of knowledge.

Naturally not everyone will want to show their cards and divulge all of their trade secrets, especially if they’ve been wildly successful. Why…

If you’re writing on Medium, especially if you’re paying for the platform, then the chances are you’re hoping for some success as a writer and content creator.

What makes someone successful on Medium?

As far as I am concerned, success comes in many sizes, shapes, and hues. What some deem successful, others may not see as sustainable.

In order to be successful on Medium, you first have to decide what is your goal with Medium.

Is it to:

  1. Practice your writing skills and use Medium as a home for your published work?
  2. Create a hub of content in hopes that it leads to freelance opportunities?
  3. Be a full-time writer…

If you’re running low on creative steam, use yourself for inspiration

It happens, life gets in the way or we experience writer’s block and can’t seem to keep afloat with writing output.

I’ve had a huge bank of stories ready to go and life got in the way and the next thing I know I’ve got nothing new to publish. Don’t let yourself get frustrated with this getting in the way of your success with writing on Medium.

What’s old is new again. In fact, you can just look to yourself for inspiration and repurpose stories you’ve already published on…

Why I hope they are and how it’ll inspire more to join the platform

We’ve seen some writers share screenshots of bonuses they’ve accumulated this month, which leads us to believe that the monthly bonus earnings could be here to stay!

Judging by these screenshots it’s looking like there may be tiers of earnings as well, which is new from last month. This is another good thing because it gives more writers an opportunity to learn and offers a bigger piece of the pie to writers as far as earnings go.

I did receive the bonus during their initial first…

Life doesn’t always work out the way you planned — and sometimes that’s a good thing

Life would certainly be a lot easier if it could go the way we all wished it could. But we know the road of life has many twists and turns to it.

I got married fairly young, fresh out of college, and I had a plan. I wanted three kids and I knew I had enough time to spread them out, but when the time came to start trying for a family I had a rude and humbling awakening.

Getting pregnant is not as easy as you’d think for some folks, and while I was blessed with ultimately realizing my…
